I'm coming to the conclusion that Bush & Co. are not always operating in the interests of the American people.  If they were, they would care about how our actions will come back to haunt us.  I mean, Clinton is vilified for his sexual behavior but he was smart enough not to have knee-jerk reactions which might cost us dearly in the future.

The whole point of the Geneva Convention was to prevent torture of our soldiers.  But if we circumvent this mandate, you can bet others will circumvent it when our soldiers are held captive.

What a mess.  As if the war is not bad enough, and for what possible gain to the American people?  We will probably spend MORE American tax dollars on the war than we Americans ever would have gained by freeing up the oil.

And when you think about the cost to the American people in terms of privacy rights to fight this elusive thing called "terrorism."  It smacks of the witch hunts of the 1950's "communism."

And then there's the nagging fear.  You have Cheney saying the country is in more danger than ever before.  You have Bush saying people need to feel safe and fly on vacations, etc.  Push, pull.  Orange, yellow, orange, yellow.

Tons of money down the drain.  This "conservative" administration are the biggest spenders of all time.  And now there isn't much left to fight the real problems.

All I can say is that what goes around comes around, and we will pay the price.  This is the price of globalism it seems, and we Americans are losing out to it.
