Icon Watergate vs .......

To put things in perspective, Richard Nixon was driven out of office on the strength of one piece of information:  that he instructed Bob Haldeman to tell the FBI not to investigate the Watergate affair.

Now, doesn't that seem oh so trivial compared to what might be going on today?

Michael Moore contends that Bush "lied" about weapons of mass destruction.  One could argue that a lie involves intent to deceive in telling something that is not true.  In other words, just because it was untrue that there weren't weapons of mass destruction doesn't make it a lie.  It's possibly the intent that matters.  One could argue that Bush didn't know otherwise and relied on what he was told; believed what he was told and acted.  No lie.

Now we learn more about Cheney's contempt for the CIA.  Why?  Well, weren't these the folks upon whom they depended for justification of the war?

I mean, are we really to believe that the CIA is that stupid?  They fail to prevent 9/11 AND they get the facts wrong on weapons?

Who's pulling who's chain?
