I'm sure everyone is aware of the looming crisis in heating costs for this
winter.
Natural gas will be jumping up to 76%, Heating oil 30% or more.
There are people in this country that are already forced to choose between
grocerys & medicine and this winter's heating crisis will take some of them
over the edge.
Some will die.
Elderly people who are already struggling, families of soldiers who are off
fighting
in other countries that are already struggling to keep their homes.....
As the above article states, congress is decreasing funding for people in
need
at a time when it will be needed most.
Supply and demand in this case is a farce.
The oil companies are making record profits already that are far beyond what
could be considered reasonable.
Exxon/Mobile reported 50 Billion, that's billion with a B", in the first six
months of
this year.
The industry stands at 100 Billion in profits currently while people are set
to freeze
and or die in the near future.
I'm not trying to start a political war here but......
Everyone, every one of us need to pick up our telephones and let your
representatives know that
this is not the America that we invision.
Oh yeah, these poor and elderly folks can stay warm this winter if they
would only drive less.
That's all we are getting from Washington.
Demand action.
We've heard time after time that we ( they ) can't do anything about the
skyrocketing oil prices.
The truth is, they don't "want" to do anything about skyrocketing energy
prices.
The new energy bill is packed with tax breaks and incentives to the big oil
companies so that maybe
they will build new refineries.
In the late 80s and early 90s while all the big oil companies were merging,
they decided, as a business decision
to close refineries, 50 of them, because they had a huge surplus every year
and they knew that they couldn't
"control" the price the way they are now with a huge surplus on hand.
Now they are asking for us to pay for this bad decision.
Most likely, no one on this list will die from this crisis, we hope.
Maybe you don't even know anyone who is hurting that badly.
Know that they are out there.
Chicago is already setting up "warming stations" so that people can huddle
together
for warmth in a "Superdome" type setting.
Is this how we should respect the elders of our country ?
Regardless of your party affiliation, please call. Call your congressmen and
women
and tell them this will not do. Please !
Call Exxon/Mobile and tell them they suck.
( and the other big oil companies too )
Please pass this to everybody in our country and take action.
