Icon A few words about John Kerry...

I live in Massachusetts and have for the majority of my life. I like John Kerry and sure I think he'd make a good president but I think the reality is he'll never get elected. I mean never. The main reason for this is that the man is an intellectual and that just does not sell with our dumbed down American public. When Kerry addresses a topic he does so with such a gleaming intelligence and razor sharp intellect that he loses most of his audience in the ramble. How sad is it that his handlers will have to tell him to dumb down his arguments if he wants to make a go of it? I mean I'm with you David I'm happy to see him run but it seems so fucking hopeless. I can't even picture a debate between him and Bush. I don't think Bush is the idiot some people paint him as but when he speaks what comes out often comes across as loony buffoonery.  The problem is that it seems the majority of the American public loves this Dubya speak. They want a guy that speaks like Homer Simpson not a guy that sends them out to purchase Hooked On Phonics and leaves them feeling that they are too stupid to understand the issues. I could give a shit about the filthy rich stuff that Pat was spouting off about but the bottom line is Bush comes across as a man of the people and Kerry (to a lot of folks) will not. In Amercan politics these days it appears that intelligence is a detriment to your campaign rhetoric.
