Honestly I don't know, except that Bush didn't choose a hard-ass that would have created for them an unwinable fight; with the number of Republican Senators who last time all voted 100% in favor of Roberts, their only option is filibuster which is such a waste of time.  They may be happy that there won't be a fight, but we the American people are the loser.  We don't know what we are getting and the Democrats don't seem to care or be looking out for us.  Someone should be opposing this nomination on principle here.  Picking her is equivalent to picking the chief cook at the White House who Bush knows personally to be a very fine person.  It's about that stupid and we are to accept this on the basis of "trust."  The last time we put our trust in this bunch, they got us into a war that no one would have supported had we known the truth at the outset.
