Icon The real irony here

The real irony here is that this woman should put her duty of advising the President ahead of her own personal desires.  She should have thanked the President for offering her the job, but should have simply told him that she really was not qualified.  That would have been the right thing to do here.  But we are dealing with people who do not act like the rest of us.  Time Magazine recently had a report on cronyism and how rampant it is in the current Administration - this is the icing on the cake.

On the other hand, conservatives like Rush Limbaugh are lamenting that Bush has squandered his opportunity to put a real hard-ass on the bench.  Pundits are claiming that Bush is in a vulnerable position right now and wants a sure bet.  Liberals are claiming that she once tried to turn back abortion rights.  The bottom line is that she is a wild card, a complete unknown, and in the words of Dick Cheney, "trust me."

While she may be a good choice, I don't know, I just think that Americans deserve something more than, "trust me" - they have squandered that option a long time ago.  I think we deserve knowing who is going up and it seems a bit of a slap in the face to me.
