Hi everybody-
...another one of my sporadic attempts to reintegrate into the DBIS community... but I didn't return empty-handed this time! A few things I've come across recently that I thought you might have some interest in:
I just returned from a trip to NYC where I did a 100 mile in-city bike ride with my daughter and her boyfriend. If you're a biker and are anywhere near NYC this is a really great ride! Here's the link: http://www.transalt.org/calendar/century/index.html
While we were there we attended the Williamsburg Jazz Festival in Brooklyn and saw trumpeter Dave Douglas. He is an amazing player and his CD "Freak In" is well worth checking out, especially if you're a Miles Davis fusion fan:

Speaking of Dave Douglas, he'll be here in Seattle as part of the Earshot Jazz Festival in late October. I've included a link to the lineup: it's one of the best I've seen! Come to Seattle and join us if you can! http://www.earshot.org/fest/schedule.html
Lastly, a book recommendation: Richard Yates "Revolutionary Road", a 1963 novel that is one of the best-written books I have read in a long time. I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who has read this book to see what you thought of it.

OK, I hope to back as a more regular DBIS citizen. See ya!
