Hi David, Just saw on ABC News tonite that the Red Cross is issuing "Client Assistance Cards" (aka debit cards) to Katrina victims with $1500 on them. Didn't get all the details becuase I wasn't really paying attention to the story until I heard about the $1500. And that was one of the last things they mentioned. I searched the Red Cross site and ran across an article about the cards.http://www.redcross.org/article/0,1072,0_332_2031,00.htmlHere's a bit of the article:This hurricane season also marked the debut of the Red Cross Client Assistance Card, which affords disaster victims a streamlined approach to receiving financial assistance. Once victims meet with Red Cross caseworkers to determine the amount of assistance they are eligible to receive, funds are “loaded” onto a card that works much like a debit card. Recipients can then use the card to purchase the items they need to begin rebuilding their homes and lives.
