Icon cars and the wonderful companies that make 'em

Good observation, Dale.

That is the quandary of the "love bug" - Adolf himself created or inspired the concept of the "people's car" - Volkswagen. Quite a legacy - the same man is responsible for both the most killings and the most popular automobile in the history of the world. (Which is nearly as statistically improbable as the first major league baseball player alphabetically to also have the most home runs ever.)

Fascists have always been fond of cars - just look to the maker of the Model T for the American variety. Which got me thinking - were there murderous ends to any strikes at a VW plant?

Mercedes made cars, trucks and tanks for the Wehrmacht, and motors for the Luftwaffe and the Italian Air Force. Now they own Chrysler, which made over 7,500 Sherman tanks - the ground weapon most responsbile for Allied victory.

And they all run on oil.
