EEE - I would hope that the Republican Party was a "Rule of Law" Party, as I would also hope same for the Democratic Party. But I don't think either party really lives up to that standard all the time. I think there are plenty of liars and hypocrites on both sides of the fence. The game of politics is and has been in high gear for a long time. Thankfully, there are also plenty of politicians that are trying to do what is right for their party and the country. But there are failings on both sides.
To call the Clinton debacle a witchhunt, seems pretty extreme to me. As I recall, he perjured himself. It was a shame, with the responsibility that he had, that he would put himself in a position to to kicked around like he was. Clinton knew the rules. Because of the situation he put himself in - he had to direct his energy and focus on defending himself vs. fully focusing on the critical issues that were facing the country.
On the Gore comment I made, it was in response to your comment about the majority of democrats in military. You are right about Libeirman -as I recall, but I do remember the Republicans counting on those overseas votes - which they wouldn't have, had it been the democaratic majority you had mentioned.
