O'Conner was one of the dissenters...my lawyers sent me copies of all of the Supreme Court paperwork on this...I've read some of it. O'Conner was totally against this. Here was the official vote:
Stevens, J., delivered the opinion of the Court, in which Kennedy, Souter, Ginsburg, and Breyer, JJ., joined. Kennedy, J., filed a concurring opinion.
O’Connor, J., filed a dissenting opinion, in which Rehnquist, C. J., and Scalia and Thomas, JJ., joined. Thomas, J., filed a dissenting opinion.
So, as you can see O'Conner led the charge against this and Thomas was the other who lent his voice.
Now as to who put these judges on the court...all but Breyer and Ginsberg were nominated by Republican presidents. So, Greenie is correct when he tells you that it was a majority of Republican nominees that ran this through...of course shame on the two Clinton judges as well...but Clinton was a moderate and Reagan was used as a model for his presidency as well. So, no surprise that his judges went the way of the other 3.
You should be pleased that 7 of the 9 judges on the court were put there by the Republicans...why are you moaning about them?
