Now obviously there are some elements of disagreement in the afore spewed discourse, some more spirited/nasty than others.
I have listened, and then purchased young Ms.Jones CD. I enjoy most of it. Her songwriting is not earth shattering, but very pleasant, and I do like her voice. It is kind of sultry and smoky...but I think needs some evolving, and I imagine that is definitely gonna happen with time. She is quite young, so the future looks upbeat for her. The CD includes tunes that are basically folk songs, and pop songs, but sung and played with jazz inflection. I was a little surprised that it was released on Blue Note, though..but I think they have opened up their doors to the now emerging larger vistas of what may constitute, or is acknowledged as, "jazz" music.
Let's not be too harsh on her or take "music" too seriously. It is pleasant, sometimes beautiful stuff; let's leave it at that. She did sell out all 5 of her engagements at the Montreal Jazz Fest this year, if that means anything.
Queen???? Krav, please..you MUST take that tack out of yer ass...it must hurt like hell by now.
