Kevin, and Kevin G.:
First of all, to my fellow Paul Kelly/Jam loving pal (Kevin in Az.), the comment about Kevin G. blowing up abortion clinics was out of line. I've never heard Kevin G. advocate for violence. Similarly, someone, a year or so ago, accused Kent of violent aspirations that were unwarranted. Kent was never heard from here again. We must cool down the rhetoric.
As to Kevin G., I'll address a post I made not long ago to Pat B. regarding abortion. Pat's response did not impress me (something about expensive government programs, etc. etc.). I'd like to hear your take. Here's what I wrote to Pat:
Women have abortions for many reasons. Kathryn has written eloquently concerning the circumstances that she and her family faced.I believe many women often feel compelled to have an abortion because of the dire financial circumstances they find themselves in. I imagine you would agree with me. Why is it then that the push for universal healthcare, a higher minimum wage, family friendly work policies, affordable housing, and affordable day care, typically comes from the Liberals? Surely improvements in these areas would sway some women and give them hope that they can raise that child they are carrying. I honestly question the sincerity (and, of course, the intelligence) of many pro-lifers. I am unapologetically pro-choice but I would love it if more women felt they could make a go of it with their child. We have far too many abortions, plain and simple, but how will fighting the aforementioned programs reduce the numbers? Please provide some insight from the Right.
I'm all ears, Kevin G.
Peter T.
