Kevin I noticed the headline "Is Coldplay the next U2?"
In a word "No". I like U2 but U2 would be nothing if not for
Joshua Tree. Would we have even paid attention through Pop and Zooropa and  Achtung baby? Nope
Has Coldplay produced an album of the caliber of Joshua Tree? Not even close.  I like Coldplay but they have a certain sameness or mundaness as Eugene would put it. Right now I'm just enjoying the hell out of going through the Burn discs and listening to the artists on the Yahoo music page

Well, I think you've hit it square on the head: Coldplay, Radiohead, Travis...etc....more of the same mundane.
I like Travis.

I don't like U2 either, but I do agree that at one time they offered a different and new sound.   Now what's the name of that band that totally copies Coldplay note for note, nuance for nuance?   Gawd...
