Before I was born..a long time ago..He was a chief engineer in the merchant navy working in the engine room..The ship he worked on did the England to Ireland crossing. A ships captain, in his will, had requested his ashes be thrown out to sea at a certain point in the channel. So on this day , dad being an officer, was called up on deck to attend the ceromony. As the ship was stopped for the ceromony it drifted into the wind so when the ashes were thrown none went in the sea, they all blew back over the family and guests.....When he returned to the engine room one of his black workmates had been standing under the vent, and the look on his face when dad told him what the white powder was all over his hair...Well they both had a laugh later!
