Gotta agree with Dale on this one. The American reaction is against terrorism, which seems to emanating almost exclusively from one group...Muslim extremists. Do Americans hate all Muslims? No, but...the case can be made that many are lumping all Muslims (the majority of which, in this country are not extremist), with the extremist groups. Just a case of reaction formation, or whatever the psychological term is (I forgot), for that type of generalization/defense mechanism.
