This one's for the prolier than-thou types who still latently wish that the USA would give communism a fair shake...

"...these days, opposing Nazis is about as unsafe for one's career as coming out firmly against world hunger, AIDS, or Jack the Ripper.

Even now, though, at least in academic circles there is a huge reluctance to admit that Marxism was flawed from the beginning, that Karl Marx was an utter, total humbug motivated entirely by rage at a world that he felt owed him a living, a phony, a fraud, a jackal snivelling at the heels of the proletariat he worshipped without wishing to join them and do some actual _work,_a sponger off his pal Engels' rich family's trust fund, an exploiter of his own employees, the father of a bastard son on his unpaid servant girl, a knowing falsifier of the data he used to support his conclusions, a carbuncle-ridden madman fit only to be tossed into a padded cell, a wastrel, a poor provider for his family, a jerk and a fool. Even at my most "Alice Hong, eat your heart out---let me show you how it's done, girl!" extremes, I can't think of things bad enough to do to him. "Or that the Russian Revolution, and all derivative revolutions, are one of the biggest self-inflicted wounds to civilization in all its history. The Russian Revolution was wrong, unnecessary, stupid, inane, insane, vapid, evil, and a Frankenstein monster unleashed on the poor suffering people of Russia. They'd have been a million times better off had the Tsars stayed in power, _Okhrana_ and all. (Besides, considering how eagerly the US government censored art and writing at the time, screaming at the _Okhrana_strikes me as a _tad_ hypocritical, just like screaming at Russia for pogroms while lynchings went merrily on here)

"_Raevolutiones delendi sunt!_ Let them be anathema!"
