They too adopted the educational philosophy of a Vermonter by the name of John Dewey and his ilk. And of course, those who built upon his fondation by supporting and manufacturing progressive education(sic). Force fed more likely. With very little digging you could discover who his friends, supporters and promoters were. I suspect you would be surprised at what you find.

You should look below the surface of the origins of the public school movement in this country. You might find it an eye opener too. Particularly since Americans of all stripes were very adament about educating their young already.
