I guess it would depend on how it was done and what sort of fee David would charge to do the music (wink, wink). You could do something very simple on a very low budget that was all talking heads and such but that's not really what I have in my head. I just watched some stuff recently, including a film called "What the $%&@ do we know?" and they shot that for 5 million. That film has the feel of an infomercial but they did attempt to get very interesting with how they visually presented their information. I think who you had to work with you on it would determine what sort of budget you'd need.  Some people can do some wild and crazy stuff for very little money. Not being an experienced filmmaker and knowing the right people is a small stumbling block but not that big of a deal. I would approach it with the idea that the images on screen should be as interesting as the ideas being presented. The thing is from a visual standpoint the world is your oyster when dealing with a guy like Trivers because of the spectrum of information he presents and how it can be applied.

Basically, I think you could make a pretty amazing film about Mr. Trivers for 5 million that would knock peoples socks off. Of course, I would end up with a slew of death threats from right wing fundamentalist Christians for getting within spitting distance of an evolutionary biologist (who as a bonus refers to the Bush administration as "crackheads") but you know, we all gotta laugh sometimes!

The thing is this is the type of person you should make a film about while he's alive. It's a matter of here's one of those voices in the wilderness that should be heard. I don't know how many people would pay to see it but it should be available for people to see.

I think it would be wildly entertaining and perhaps so would you Andrea...and lot of folks that visit the Baerwald board may find it a heck of a lot of fun. I mean when you read the article about the guy didn't you want to hear more from him?  A film about him becomes a window for a lot of people to do just that.

Anyway, even if I don't make a film about him somebody should...maybe someone that could afford David's fee...I think all I could afford would be Brad and Mick...but they could also double as special effects and I think Mr. Trivers would find them most interesting specimens.
