but when a country has an all-volunteer army, the most common reply to military member dissent is, "well, they knew what they were signing up for and they volunteered without anyone twisting their arm."

I sincerely believe that if not for the draft, the Vietnam War would have ground on much longer than it did. And a draft may give pause for policy makers when it comes to decision making.

Besides, while the gap between the have and have nots continues to grow, we are also becoming a country divided by those that sacrifice for the true good of the country and those that do not.

Something needs to be done to ensure that we are truly in this together and that those who make these decisions are not allowed to idly sit by and reap the fruits of those who have sacrificed.
