Come to think of it, if anyone is at all interested in the fingerstyle acoustic and open tunings for guitar, Uncle Eugene highly suggests starting with one of the originators..John Fahey.  Without him, there would not have been Leo Kottke (musically that is).  Check out this site, has tabs and tunings.  John got his inspiration from the early blues stylists like Bukka White etc..but took things further.  He was born here in sunny Maryland (Tacoma Park).  His simplicity and understatement on some renderings is haunting.  A true American.

Andrea, I will include some of his stuff on that CD I promised you (and on which I shall not include any Leo Kottke), so you will get rid of that spinal reflex that triggers "Leo Kottke" every time you hear open/altered tuning play.
