You carried a gun in High School?  Man, that musta been some tough school. I'm fifty-one years old and have never owned a gun. To tell you the truth I've never been in a situation where I needed one or wished I had one.

The only gun experience I can claim was in 1988 when I worked with homeless mentally ill in downtown Seattle. One of my clients, clearly crazy as a loon, had been released from jail and arrived in my office for an appointment carrying a pistol. A quick thinking nurse asked him "can I see your gun?" and he handed it over to her without protest. It was empty but ridiculously scary nonetheless. Despite the fact that he had a long jail history, a history of mental health hospitalizations, and looked like he was out of his mind, some entrepreneurial gun dealer sold him a pistol. Guess I'm lucky. It could have been an assault rifle.
