<>Well, let's see. When this adminstration took
office we were running a surplus. After 90
billion on a pipe dream of a missile defense
system, 200 billion on a foolish and
unnecessary war, and tax cuts primarily
rewarding the top 1% (of which I'm one, thank
you very much), we now are running a record
deficit, real (that is, not part-time or temp)
unemployment is up, real average salaries are
down by thousands, american jobs are being
outsourced at an unprecedented rate, corporate
welfare has actually increased, the average
household credit card debt is pushing 5000
dollars... <> That's not a prevalent meme. In other words,
most Americans have not heard that spoken of
in a serious way. <>Rumsfeld "We know where the weapons of
mass destruction are"
Bush "There's no doubt that Saddam has
weapons of mass destruction"... Blah blah blah.
They were all saying it, and it's clear without a
shadow of a doubt that Wolfowitz's intelligence
group in the White House was cooking the
books in favor of that lie. Did Bush know he
was lying? Noone will ever know, most likely.
But indisputably, with all evidence assessed, he
was at the very least, repeating lies. Cheney's
still going around implying that Saddam and Al
Qaeda were partners. Even the Brit intelligence
people have now gone on record as saying that
they thought the drive to war was a "grudge
match" between Bush and Saddam. (London
Times, today)
