The story I'm referencing has to do with Kerry tossing a grenade into a cache of rice.  The grenade went off and some rice was imbedded in his ass.  That was the self inflicted wound I'm speaking of.  No, it wasn't planned but being the opportunist that he is, he tried to make the most of it.

Maybe you've read my earlier posts on this, maybe you haven't.  I really couldn't care less about what Kerry did in Vietnam...but...if this is going to be the primary focus of his campaign, and up to this point it's been his only focus and if he's also being loose with how he's portraying himself, then I think it's only right that he as well as the vets who disagree with him be heard.

As I was telling someone a few days ago, I can't imagine a situation where you could get me to publicly smear the name of someone I served with in the Navy years earlier just because I didn't agree with him politically.  But, if I learned that someone I'd served with was making himself out to be a hero and I knew that this person was being dishonest with the public, I'd stand up and be heard.  That's what I think you have in Kerry's case.

Don't be so quick to say that this is all the work of Bush and his henchmen.  Do you suppose there is any truth to what the SBV are saying?  I don't know how many SBV there are but it seems to me they've assembled quite a few who want to go on record against Kerry.  If those guys are anything like myself, they wouldn't do that unless there was good reason.  I can tell you that I would not smear someone just because I was approached and asked to go along with what was being said.  No doubt there may be a very small number of those who would but I don't think all these guys have been flipped by Rove.  Do you?

I'd be happy to put this whole mess behind us but Kerry needs to start talking about something other than his war hero days, wouldn't you agree?
