What is it with the 1st Amendment that scares conservatives so much? Sure, we will have people defend boycotts such as this and say "oh, this isn't censorship", when in all reality it is a form of distasteful economic censorship.
But what is really comical, is when you get a bunch of people who suddenly profess surprise at someone's leanings, when such leanings would have been extremely apparent if they had simply paid attention to the lyrics.
Take Springsteen. His leanings were pretty apparent by his third cd "Born to Run." And if someone didn't get it by his homage to John Steinbeck in "The Ghost of Tom Joad", then they really were oblivious. It has always been there in the lyrics. Heck, "Nebraska" is filled with all sort of liberal identifiers.
In contrast, how many calls for liberal boycotting of Charlton Heston or Arnold movies have there been? Or what about Tom Selleck, Lee Greenwood, Britney Spears and so on?
Or is it that the Right is just jealous because the Left has bigger stars than the Right? Instead of penis envy it appears we just might have "star envy"....
What is truely shameful is that there are people out there who continually try to intimidate others from exercising a Constitutionally protected freedom while standing silent while people like R. Kelly, Michael Jackson and other sickening types like this run around untouched by conservative criticism.
