Well, my optimistic notion of quiet time enough to post a bunch of wierd spooky instrumental music (and a few songs) sort of morphed into a frantic, weeks-long, all-night-long frenzy of making more (even wierder) instrumental music for a different project, a Gore Verbinski film. I'm also writing a song for the picture which for one reason or another I'm having a hard time writing. (I'm sick of words.) So to the end of fulfilling promises I'm asking my able associate Chris Fudurich to go through the sort of painful process of compiling all of this stuff and putting it in one place and making it available. He also has a pretty full plate. but he is strong like bull, and will make it happen. On another note, the movie I just finished, "Around The Bend", will be available in October on Rhino Records, and will contain three songs--two of mine, plus a Tom Waits song that i cover with some old pals. (Larry Klein and Dean Parks, among notable others.) I think there'll also be a pair of Leon Russell songs and maybe even a Dylan track. The instrumental music is chamber-orchestra size, (think Scarlatti) and moves from humorous Italian-style film comedy music to the more brooding, high string harmonic Arvo Part-ish side of things, depending on whether somebody is dying onscreen or not. It's a beautiful, touching film, with the best Chris Walken performance I've seen in years. Not for the kiddies, but for any grown-up with parental issues. it's an absolute gem. You'll laugh and cry, I guarantee it. Anyway, there you have it. Go Kerry/Edwards!
