I know the Dems are going to hold on to Clark and I wouldn't be surprised to see him offered Rummy's job if Kerry wins. I think he'll offer that spot to McCain first, who'll turn it down because if Kerry wins I think he'll run against him in 2008. I think there's something about Clark that will keep him from ever holding the top job or VP. I don't know what it is but I think there's a there, there...if you know what I mean.
The local conservative radio talk show host was all over the Hillary rumor yesterday. He actually called the Drudge Report a "major news outlet", which left me wondering how he defines such things. I suppose if the Weekly World News or the National Enquirer ran such a story next to World's Fattest Cat or Bush Meets With Space Alien it would qualify as a "major news outlet" reporting it.
The thing is we know at this point the Kerry people have done a full investigation of the 7 to 10 people that may have been considered for the job. So anything that could be used by the Republicans against any one of them is already known to the Kerry people. This is why I think the "Clinton rumor" has got to be bullshit. Why would you throw her into the midst of an already nasty partisan mess? How will she help Kerry in the south? How would she help him in swing states like Pennsylvania or Florida? She wouldn't and the mudslinging would get even worse. In truth who really wants her aside from New York and maybe Terry McAuliffe?
I think in a close election, with Bush going down in flames all year long, one disaster after another hurting his chances, all Kerry has to do is ride the wave into the White House by not making any big mistake or doing anything that is over the top. Even Republican support for Bush is slipping and if Kerry actually was dumb enough to add Clinton to his ticket it would energize the other side and things against him in such a dramatic way he may as well start selling his own line of porn tapes of his time with Morgan Fairchild. The boy wonder Rove seems to have run out of ideas as each smear he launched crashed back to earth in a ball of flame. Each one a political Hindenburg, the sex scandal that wasn't, trying to tie Kerry's campaign to MoveOn.org, digging for oddities in his personal finances...I think it's time to send Turd Blossom back to the minor leagues. Maybe he could manage Junior High school council elections in Peoria. Have his candidate remind everyone of the time Joey spit his gum into poor little Susan's hair.
Honestly I think Edwards is the guy he should go with. If anyone should be groomed for taking over the job if Kerry wins two terms I think Edwards seems a good fit. He's only a one term Senator, not some Washington insider, and he seems like a genuine decent human being. Of course he is a good looking guy and maybe they dug up some nonsense like he's a serial adulterer and he's slept with half of South Carolina. I wouldn't hold that against him but Rove would have a party with it.
So, I think Clark will be given something by whoever the next Dem is that becomes president but in terms of VP or even president I get the feeling there's something about him that says damaged goods. Let's just hope this Hillary stuff was some Karl Rove wet dream and he called Drudge and told him that the minute he woke up in a fit of panic and excitement. It seems to be the stuff of right wing conservative talk show host fantasy material.
You know, speaking of fantasy, I bet all of Karl Rove's sexual fantasies involve Hillary...and any combination of farm animals, peanut butter, and leotards.
