Two millions Canadians smoke marijuana each year, which makes the country one of the biggest consumers of the drug in the industrialized world, according to a two-year-old Canadian Senate report that recommended legalization.

One of the party's candidates running in the Montreal region, Michel Allard, notes on his business card that he was a marijuana supplier to former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, who died in 2000, as well as to "several honorable ministers in Quebec."

This is from an article describing how the "Marijuana" Party (actual political party...not a bong bash) is losing it's teeth..because the mainstream politicians are in agreement that herb should be  decriminalized.   I think they are also heading towards legalization to some degree.   It would have been ipso facto by now, if not for pressure exerted by the US government (trade sanctions etc..).
