So much for the liberal press. However, in the same edition of the Sun-Sentinel: Page 8B of the local section: "Money for GOP poured in after factory decision". Bush had flip- flopped and then approved a permit for building a cement plant on the "pristine" Ichetucknee River in Suwannee County. He had previously promised to oppose the permit for environmental reasons. "Campaign finance records show that within two days of the deal's completion on June 29, 2000, $140,000 in contributions from some (company) executives and family members went to the Republican Party...Of the contributions, $40,000 went to the RNC to help George W. Bush's campaign." Ah yes, Jeb, he's a pip alright. That McBride has come as far as he has is a statement against Bush right there.
