When I lived in Japan, over 3 decades ago, there were a lot of missionaries and their kids attended the same school. The Southern Baptists were the strictest and fire and brimstonist of them all. One of my friends whose parents were SBs would spend the night at my house whenever there was a school dance because they were not allowed to dance nor listen to music. I was never quite comfortable about circumventing her parents, but she was a good friend and I guess not to worried about the ole fire and brimstone.
