The Gitmo commander has said that the US will not tear down the Abu Ghraib prison despite the requests to do so by politicians. 

Frankly, those wiser than I should have done this the day we "took" over Iraq and we should certainly do so now.  Doing so would be just one minor step of important symbolic notice to the Iraqis. 

One last thing to ponder......one journalist asked, would these acts not be considered war crimes if the Iraqis had carried them out against American soldiers?
