VICTIM/INJURIES: M/W, 26 yoa, ties to the Madison area Victim suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to approx 50% of his body.
DETAILS OF INCIDENT: The victim had rented a room at the King's Inn Motel earlier in the day with a friend. The man proceeded to douse a towel with rubbing alcohol and place it on his head in an attempt to rid himself of headlice. While the saturated towel was still on the victim's head, he lit a cigarette and he immediatly became engulfed in flames. People on scene attempted to put the fire out, but not before the victim sustained serious burns to approximately half of his body. The victim was transported to University Hospital by ambulance where he is being treated in their Burn Unit. His status at the time of the release was reportedly critical, but stable.
