"What Went Wrong" by Bernard Lewis. Lewis is the world's foremost authority on Islam. He recounts how Islam "was in the forefront of human achievement", in the arts and sciences, etc, far exceeding the Christian nations, and then everything reversed. Basically Islam has a centuries old inferiority complex, and is lashing out at the infidels that "stole" its land and its stature in the world. A quick read!
