A couple of things, Dave. First..great taste in music. Love the dB's, and Sound of Music is really a true work of art. I know Will Rigby's mom pretty well; we were co-workers at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem,and I got to see them play at Reynolds HighSchool Auditorium, where some of them had actually gone to school. Also saw them live, several other times. They were always superb in concert. Holsapple is alive and well, and doing some session work with some of the artists that Gaff is planning to do releases for this year.
Second, I don't think going to a Canadian school protects an American from the draft, unless one is to remain in Canada (which is draft-dodging). However, if one parent is Canadian, the children can become Canadian citizens by Naturalization fairly easily. Both of my sons were born in US...but, being Canadian, I made them both Canadian (ie dual) citizens a few years ago. It's completely legal in Canada. US does not recognize the duality, so if they were drafted, they would legally be able to enter and work in Canada (if they so chose), but would be arrested for draft avoidance if they attempted to relocate back to US (at least I think that's how the law works. Any of-age male, born in US or even a foreign national working legally in US (>6 months) is eligible to be drafted, and must serve or "be served" if they decline.
