That statement by Feingold certainly is. Sorry Krav, I know he is a friend of yours, but if he was paying the slightest bit of attention he would know that all of the powers included in the Patriot Act were already permitted to the government in other areas. The Patriot Act did nothing more than move all of these powers to the same department.
The question people should be asking is, should the government have had these powers to begin with?
Judging by Feingold's voting record, he never met saw a government expansion he didn't like prior to the Patriot Act, so I have hard time taking him seriously.
"Swimming against the tide" seems to be his schtick. If he didn't, nobody would pay attention to him. The American people deserve better. Wisconsin certainly does.
