"Statistics never lie, but liars use statistics" - Nice Paul. That should be a quote here. How about a new catchphrase, after "actionable intelligence" -"statwisticks" or maybe "statwistix" (the latter for those who feel the need to paint the right as circa 1939 Germans).
Notice how Condoleeza somehow got out of a congressional hearing?
Reg, you should've seen the conflagration with the papers and my father. He spent two days on the phone talking to old buddies, and getting more and more outraged, surprisingly, because of its veracity. Dad's still pushing for Bush for Prez. I'm pushing for bush, but it's all lower case and metaphorical, not to mention below the belt. The reason I've debased the point I was making is that I'm still composing the response to your post because I'm still talking to my Dad about it.
Dad knows about me posting here, and however at odds I've been with him over music and politics, I look a lot like him and at a single digit age he got me interested in the world and fishing, which, let's face it, is a world unto itself. Only recently though, we're in agreement on a number of things, not the least of which is the state of the union home and abroad.
Dad's a big jazz fan which I always thought was spectularly unstructured and therefore bad. But we've always listened to music together and about 6 years ago he started to get the blues (Eric Clapton unplugged?!?!) and I started to appreciate the jazz he listens to.
Anyway, I played Triage for Dad back when it came out and DB vilified some of the people Dad (in an extremely, low level way) worked for in the credits. When asked, I told Dad about the website and the board - he said 'Isn't he the one who sang about the drugs?' He was referencing the line from Nobody - 'the drugs are brought in by the CIA'. I thought it was interesting that this is what he took exception with DB after all these years.
Thank you all for the indulgence in what's 1/3 post, 1/3 self referential family history, 1/3 half assed email response. I'll crank you out the rest of that mail when I can, Reg...it looks to be lengthy.
Lee
