After reading all of those posts, what I'm getting from Percival's post is that he feels that this film portrayal of the last 12 hours of Christ's life is disrespectful of a sacred event.
So, a long while back, this guy takes a photo of a crucifix in a jar of urine and a lot of folks got upset too. The folks who were upset weren't upset because it showed Jesus nailed to two peices of wood. It showed Jesus, nailed to two peices of wood in a JAR OF PEE.
I'm not offended by the existance of this movie...and I can't critique it because I haven't seen it. And I'm not going to. I've chosen to miss out on a lot of Jesus films...with the blaring exception of the Life of Brian. The life of Christ, the good parts and the bloody parts is so deeply engrained in my personality and my mind, it's like going to see a film of last week's staff meetings. I hope that everyone going to see it see's something good. And if you don't want to see a bunch of gore, might I suggest any of dozens of films about the man's life.
I'm just hoping for Lethal Weapon 5. I love that Joe Pesci. They fuck you at the drive thru!
