The "blue blood" theory is a little far-fetched. The peerage book does show that 36 out of 42 Presidents had lineages that go back to Britain.   The Rodham family is NOT listed...neither is mine for that matter (I'm smitten). 

As far as Quebec goes...Vive le Quebec Libre!  (Remember that one? ).  Honestly, I think Quebec separatism is dwindling exponentially in enthusiasm.  It is a great place to live; Montreal especially is booming these days, with so many great neighborhoods, and affordable housing by most people's standards.  Hope you like freezing cold, and...Maple Syrup.  Aussi..il faut parler le Francais toujours..(but you've been to France..you won't have any trouble).   Check it out.  They do have some of their own immigration laws, which can be found on the Quebec Provincial website (yep, they do have an English page also).
