According to Al Franken's great book "Liars and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them", Frist headed up a smear job to oust the late Paul Wellstone before the tragic accident that claimed his life.

They ran an ad that pointed out that Paul had voted for S.1216 which set aside thousands of dollars to control seaweed in Maui. They claimed that the Senator cared more about seaweed then he did about national defense.

Of course, he did vote for the bill, as did Strom Thurmond, Trent Lott and apparently, Bill Frist himself.

The bill did appropriate the seaweed control spending but.... it also provided 21 billion for veterans health care, 27 billion for veterans compensation and pensions, and block grants to assist NYC's recovery from 9/11.

 When Paul's surviving son David, asked him about it outright, he admited it and said "It wasn't personal ". To which David replied " My Dad took it personal."

The sad thing is, we the people are falling for this type of smear tactic .

I can't believe that John McCain even supports these monsters after what they did to him in S.C.
