Where many "Christians" say "Bible", a lot of the time, they mean Leviticus.  Leviticus is the part of the bible that sets down many "rules" including the whole Abomination in the eyes of God thing regarding homosexuality.  Depending on what brand of Christian one says they are is how closely you adhere to these rules.  But, I'll bet this has NOTHING to do with it!

I have a feeling it has more to do with insurance money than anything else.  Legal marriages between same sex couples just means that the Hypothetical 10% that was mentioned before would be eligible for payouts and other benefits.  It smells like bigotry but it's just easy, old fashioned greed. 

So, who cares about good parents,  happy homes, caring families or values or anything else.  Opponents don't want to grant legal rights to Same Sex Couples because it puts them on an equal playing field as other couples for benefits.  And with so little to go around, who wants to share!
