Strangely enough, and this gem of rock history is a real coup for the DB Infosource as only now the truth can be told; the Clash's follow-up to the triple album tour de force, Sandinista, was to be called Mandolinista! Seems Joe Strummer wanted punk to go in a Tex-Mex direction that relied totally upon the mandolin. He envisioned a sprawling 10 album set that married working class angst to 3 chord mandolin plucking. Mick Jones would have no part of Joe's "vision" and hence, the breakup of the only band that mattered. You read it here first.
