Excellent point, this is why I get upset every time people here in my lovely state of CA propose some anti-immigration law or proposition or other BS. No one is every interested in dealing with the real complex issues in a reasonable and humane way. It's much easier to blame someone who looks and sounds different, for our problems and downplay any positive contributions. Our mexican neighbors are working, living, playing, trying to survive everywhere here (if I had the misfortune to be born in a corrupt country and couldn't find work to feed and support my family, but could if I went a few miles north, I'd do it in a heartbeat, and I bet many of you would as well), as long as they're bussing our tables, picking our lettuce, digging our ditches, and keeping to their substandard migrant housing, we're prefectly happy to put up with them and ignore them, but heaven forbid they may need a little human kindness or assistance every now and then, and don't let their kids (some even advocate withholding citizenship to those children born on this soil) attempt to get an education, they may just get uppity and not want to work in the fields, heck they may even try and vote someday . . .
