I think I could drink Howard Dean under the table.
I guess if I were to slag a candidate on chemicals they've used in the past, I'd just go for the folks that use "Illegal Recreational Pharmacuticals." I'm not looking at good drugs or bad drugs here folks...I'm just looking at a willful defiance of the law.
So...if candidate A goes out on Cutty Sark benders (wish I had that kind of cash) 4 times a week, gets a cab to go home and maybe makes an ASS out of herself or himself from time to time, they have broken no law. (that's if candidate A was of legal drinking age) Candidate A may have broken some MORAL code or done something that Mama would not have been proud of but it's still perfectly legal. (this also is assuming the individual did not break any other laws
Canidate B on the other hand tries Cocaine Once, they have willfully broken a number of Laws. How morally reprehensible this is depends on YOU the DBInfosource Reader.
I'm supporting neither the drinker or the one time cocaine user at this time. But I think I'll probably feel more comfortable with the person who didn't use the blow based on the legal issue. I feel the same about Marijuana...even if you just use it once. Once again...not on a moral basis but a LEGAL one.
Oh...and before we muddle the already confusing definition of Alcoholism, one must understand that Alcoholism is a Disease which the Site of lesion lies in the Hipocampus which can be found atop the brainstem, firmly lodged within the Cerebral Cortex. (I'm really paraphrasing here but I'm speaking in reference to research by Neurochemist Carl Erickson, University of Texas, Austin) You can drink like a fish and NOT be an Alcoholic. I'm at work right now so I'll have to dig up my sources and I'll try to post the research that supports this either later on tonight when I get home or maybe tomorrow if someone really wants to read more.
And when I do, I think I'll have a beer and check my spelling of Hippocampus. Perhaps that's a University on the Nile.
