The way to make that film scarier is to turn the sound off. Especially the end, the spooky folks dancing around. With the sound on, it retains it's campyness. In total silence, it makes my skin crawl.

Then of course, if you start Dark Side of the Moon right when the opening credits begin, it's a romantic comedy.
