Oh yes. Fuel shortages and panic buying have led to large increases in the cost of all fuel, but especially diesel which we rely on in rural areas for transport and production of agricultural commodities. This has led to increased freight costs and therefore prices of everything else have risen.
Broadacre famers are hesitant to plant crops which they may not yet have diesel to harvest. Their costs for sowing have also increased due to sharp rises in fertiliser prices.
Other unexpected things like PVC supply and cost have been impacted by the lack of fuel and gas.
We are trying to limit the number of trips we do. If we go to town, we make sure we're ticking off more than one box. We also travel together - John to the hardware store and me to the supermarket - instead of doing separate trips. Makes sense anyway.
