A milder example but it reminds me of Michael Caputo from the earlier administration and his soul-sucking turn at the CDC before announcing a cancer diagnosis.  I heard he did an abrupt switch to humanitarian causes but never fact-checked that.  You said it eloquently, Reg.  The tortured soul gets eventually crushed under the shadow of the tsunami.  Some probably deserve a chance at redemption but less so when they freely sign up for the second Darvo Don go-round.
