So, I wonder if there are strange beliefs and arguments over the nature of reality in other educated countries. I don't think, though I can't say for sure, that European countries suffer...well...at least as much from this problem.
I do think we can, sometimes with some effort, agree on a fact, truth, or what is real. I feel that in the United States our problem is the willingness of so many elected politicians on the Right, a billionaire like Musk who bought his own social media site to do so, and Right-wing media to tell us lies and vigorously encourage false beliefs. The rise of a guy like Trump, who tells huge and ridiculous and sometimes criminal lies is confusing and often frightening because you wonder why some people believe him, but there are people, people who should not be doing it, that promote believing him.
I think we are in the endgame of that now, because we are in his second and last term as president and...well...he and the people directing him are going for broke. All the things you would hope would not happen they are attempting to make happen. What will take place is reality will come crashing in and those that voted for these people will discover they made a mistake. Sure, they should know that already, but it won't matter soon what any of us have said, because the math, pure and simple math will force them to confront what is real and true. Trump and those that are telling him what to do are just banking on the idea that once hardcore MAGA voters wake up, it will be too late. They will no longer have a way out.
i believe that is true because ALL SIGNS POINT RIGHT AT IT.
The frustrating thing is those that voted for these people seem to have made the choice to take us to the "it's too late" point and that is why we struggle so hard against it. Nothing seems to matter to them, it does seem more of a revenge trip to some of them, they want revenge on us, we have to be made to suffer, and they want to drink our tears.
OK.
I can grasp their thirst for revenge. Their fury, rage, and hate. I see it encouraged over and over and over again by the people they elected, the news outlets they watch or read, and all over social media. This I have seen so much of, it is very clear what they feel. And when you are that wrapped up in those things, well, you will not make good choices and you won't understand what the result of your choices will be.
I've talked to many Trump/MAGA people. Mostly, they seem amazingly poorly informed. I mean, the tariff thing showed that in spades. So, I know the question becomes, how can we get the truth in front of them, and the answer to that, which seems hopeless, is we can't. In as much as they are trained to dismiss us, believe we are brainwashed, and we live to try to trick them.
They have to discover it themselves. They have to unearth the facts, truths, and what is real on their own, it does not work if we show it to them...WE can't be trusted in their eyes. Unless, they see and understand something they find on their own that indicates to them we were not lying.
It is not the best way to get there because it takes longer, it always means there will be many needless deaths, and we run the risk that by the time they do understand what has happened, it is too late. Democracy here in the US is gone, we live under a chain of wealthy dictators, who just pass leadership off to the next guy that will continue to rape the country for a small group of oligarchs.
I do often wonder, am I stupid? Am I fooling myself that we will be able to repair this? Should I be trying to find a way to pack up and head to another country?
Right now, I try to stay optimistic. I believe that people will, eventually, understand and I hope when they do, we have not already crossed a tipping point.
