Yes, I put an S on the end of the word because we just keep crossing them, and in this time we live in, that is intentional. 

Sandy Hook was a Rubicon and we flew by it like we were Mario Andretti at the Indy 500. It was ugly, it was loaded with cruelty and viciousness, it involved buddies of our current sitting president...a guy that loves and embraces vicious and cruel. 

The thing is, we are set to cross a whole bunch of Rubicons now with this monster as our president. We are watching it, basically the checklist I never wanted to post, he's ticking them off. Arrest judges? Check. Arrest political enemies? Check. Elected officials? Check. Former FBI directors? Check. Suspend habeas corpus? Check. Destroy the rule of law? Check. Disappear people off the streets and ship them to places like El Salvador and Libya? Check. As this goes on, destroy the economy? Check. Devalue the dollar? Check. Wipe out any and all regulation? Check. Fire anybody that worked in government that helped or protected the people of this country? Check. Push old allies away and cozy up to dictators you want to model our government after? Check. Take all services and anything designed for the betterment of the public away? Check. Wipe out our educational system? Check. destroy the justice system in this country? Check. Go after every law firm that tries to hold you accountable for breaking the law? Check. Go after every media outlet that tells the truth about you? Check. 

The goal is to leave the public desperate and feeling helpless, wiped out financially, nobody to answer their calls because they have all been fired, let the oligarchs take all they have, homes, retirement funds, college tuition, savings, sweep it all up like chips on a poker table. Because as far as they are concerned, it was always theirs anyway and it is patriotic to surrender all you have to Caesar because he said so. 

The weakest and most vulnerable go down first, because what can they do? The middle will fight to hold on to what they have, but will be pushed to the brink. 

Those of us thinking about it will ask, when do they see what is happening? What does it take? Words were no good? Are numbers? As the cost for them rises when do they say, "Wait, this is not what we wanted!" and will it be too late? 

In MAGA land, cruelty is the way of the world but it is meant to always be exorcised on others. On migrants and transgender people, on liberals and Democrats, on people that won't join in their freaky circus of pain, cruelty, and punishment. 

But they seem to not understand the hierarchy, that there is only the club at the top. They are the only ones that benefit. They are not in it, it is not a democracy, it is a dictatorship, and if you are not at the top there is only one right you have, to suffer and to render unto Caesar what is his. 

And the punchline to the whole thing when they say "But I thought this was supposed to hurt them, not us!" is, and Musk and Trump have repeated it, "You asked for this, voted for it, don't whine at us as we give you what you asked for."

And it is true, they asked for suffering, they are delivering suffering.
