At the moment, the Democrats have a lot to deal with, including internally. I would not expect them to start putting up people that they expect the party to coalesce around yet. It's a bit early for that and I don't think they want to do that yet. They have a list from prior to 2024 but I don't know who is on that list they would put up as a presidential candidate in 2028. Some of them, I assume, but I think a lot of people are clamoring for fresh faces, new ideas, and new approaches. 

Part of this Trump second term will be to destroy as much of the United States as is possible, to leave a massive mess for the next person to have to try and clean up and rebuild. It's about the destruction so that the cost and damage will be overwhelming to the next president. People ask the question over and over "Why is he doing this? This makes no sense. It is only causing destruction." but the destruction is the point. It is meant to be 4 years of terror, of the collapse of whatever he can cause to collapse, and then he skips off or passes away and never has to worry about it. He just wants to stuff his own pockets full of as much cash as he can along the way. 

You can criticize Democrats and their presidents all you want, but they would never have done this and would not have ever put us in the position we are in now. They certainly are not perfect, but they are lightyears better than MAGA. That is a death cult and we are watching it unfold. 

I don't think we'll have a good idea who the Democrats have in mind for 2028 until the midterms here, in 2026. The thing Trump/MAGA will work toward is to build rage among the public, in both Democrats and Republicans (if there is such a thing) so that the main thing they are always ready to do is to turn on whomever is holding elected office. Trump's goal is to always keep all elected officials hated, always build the rage and lack of trust. Make people doubt them all in hopes that he can be the only one that can take that pressure off, if he chooses to do so.

Who represents MAGA after Trump is gone? Well, likely nobody, basically it seems the people behind project 2025 want J.D. Vance, and some of MAGA want Donald Trump Jr. but I think their real goal is to have destroyed the election process by 2028 so that, as Trump promised, nobody will ever have to vote again. The successor will just be chosen by the people, the oligarchs, that feel they should be allowed to do the choosing. Obviously, Musk likes and wants to be promoted as the man that chose Trump...not voters...his point all along was voters don't matter. Money talks and the people with the most talk loudest is his point. 

So, say what you will about Democrats, sure they make mistakes too, and in the world of Trump they make the biggest mistake of all...they admit they make mistakes. Trump's rule is to NEVER admit you made a mistake and he never does. If you do something stupid, you do not admit it, you call it the best, greatest, most amazing, thing ever. 

Well, that has led us here and here is not where most people want to be. As long as people are divided, as long as that Trump idea that weakness, fear, and division are the path to power continues to work on 75 million people...well...we will continue to slide into the abyss. That's part of the idea, that we feel there is no way out, that this is inevitable, that we become part of the hate and fury and grease the slope, so we all slide down, desperately trying to climb over one another. 

I want us to avoid this. The beginning of the plan has to be don't panic and don't give in to these ideas. There is a way out, it is achievable, we can work together as people, a country, a world to find a path to better. People have to understand that is true. 

And of course, people have to coalesce around the idea again that there are things that are true. Trump's biggest enemy, the one he personally puts most of his effort into fighting, is the truth. His "war on truth" has been very effective, but it is also very defeatable.
