I echo the good cheer related to your return, Willis.

We just rewatched both The French Connection and The Conversation as it had been at least a decade or so. Of the two, I'm still most impressed with The Conversation. It has many layers to it, and though the technology it featured seems so primitive given where we presently are, it still raises some unsettling questions about privacy, the ethically-flawed people who invariably access secrets, and the resulting actions. The surveillance teams of prior decades may well be shocked by how today people readily surrender the entirety of their lives, sometimes happily, and other times unconsciously. Our zones of privacy, connected to our most basic integrity and sense of autonomy, are getting ever smaller, and may well disappear completely. At present, our pulse, blood pressure, eye movements, etc. can all be monitored in order to betray our inner most thoughts and reactions. It's as if we've all been placed inside fMRI machines, as our neurons reveal our actions before even we feel we've made a decision.
